King of Fig Tree

King of Fig tree is located in the Orchard of Layka Township of Hotan County. It is about 22Kms south of Hotan city. The fig tree has a history of more then 400 years old. The age of fig tree can’ t obviously be seen, but It still has large branches, many leaves, as rich on fruits as ever. Every year new branches for the tree keep coming to bear fresh fruits.

The King of Fig trees covered an area is about 666square meters. The Fig tree is quiet old but it’s still bear fruits. The taste of the fig is same taste with the taste of the figs other part of Xinjiang, this is the why people named it, King of fig tree. There is a legend about this tree. It is said that there was once a king of Yutian country. He had no son, even at the age of 70 years old. The king was worried to die without having any male offspring, and so do his people. So the people started to search and explore the way to find out solution or to find a way to extend the life of their king. Unfortunately they couldn’t find a way to extend the life of their king.

One day a mother of another country king was passing by the area, her attention was attracted by a farmer, then she met with that farmer and asked him that what is he looking for, and what is bothering him? Then the kind farmer explained the situation that he is looking for an elixir to extend the life of their king. Then the mother of another country was deeply impressed by the work of the farmer, gave him a branch of a tree and told him how to plant it, and she is gone. Then the farmer plants the branch of the tree to the ground the way she told. The following day he was realized that the branch of the tree got many leaves and other branches as well, and it is also bearing fruits without having blossom. After the fig was raped the king ate the fig and it actually worked the way the king and his people hoped, at a same time he was able to have a son and lived more then 100years.
