Kucha Mosque is situated to the north of the old city of Kuqa county downtown. It is the second largest mosque in Xinjiang (In terms of size) after the Eid Kah Mosque in Kashgar. It was built for the first time in 16 century. Current mosque was rebuilt in 1931 after it was burnt down by fire.

The mosque consists of praying hall, teaching room, dormitories, religious court (only one which had Shariya Islamic Court in China). It’s occupied an area of 1,165 square meters, and calling tower for prayer is 20 meters high. It can hold up to 5,000 people at a time for the praying service. Today it is the centre of religious activities for the Muslims in Kuqa.
