We had a wonderful time in Kashgar! We took tours to Karakul Lake and Tashkurgan along the great Karakorum Highway pass. The drive was beautiful, our tour guide was unbelievably knowledgable, and the scenes were breathtaking.

Our Uyghur tour guide, Koresh, spoke great English and treated us with an incredibly nuanced view on life in Kashgar and Xinjiang. We learned about Uyghur customs, ate the great local food, and learned about the long and fascinating history of the Uyghur people in Xinjiang. He was also super funny, and kept our drives interesting with stories and local jokes. Koresh was such a friendly and personable guide. He introduced us to everyone we met on the trip, and we entertained our ridiculous questions. He even helped us negotiate a way to go up to base camp on Muztagh Ata, which we ended up skipping because we did not have warm enough clothes.

A huge thanks to Imam and Koresh. Imam’s great communication and flexible planning was crucial to us picking Xinjiang Travel, and Koresh’s expertise will keep us coming back and referring friends.
